Such a unique drink. Truly ingredients I would never really think to put together. If I’m honest, seeing Scotch, Mezcal, Gin, and Amaretto listed, I had no idea how this drink was going to taste.
You first taste the citrus and fizziness, followed by the sweet and earthiness of the Scotch, finished with a nice smoky, almond aroma. Really a lot going on, but quite enjoyable.
If “What the fuck” was a cocktail. I’ll start off by saying I do not prefer duck, but I had to order this drink purely out of curiosity. I’ve seen savory drinks before, but this was on a whole new level. Almost every ingredient had a duck component.
So I don’t think you’ll be surprised when I say my first sip tasted as if I just ordered Peking duck from my local Chinese spot. I mean, the accuracy and savory nature of this drink will knock you back in your seat.
For me, way too overwhelming. I love the innovation and the execution is stellar. If you like duck, this might be one of your favorite cocktails ever.
The Space
Just southeast of central Bangkok lives Mahaniyom. A second-floor bar above what looked to be a fantastic Thai restaurant. A very intimate, incredibly dark bar. A few bar stools, but mostly comfy chairs for couples.
I liked the neon sign above the bar. When I went, it was a quiet night, and I was able to chat with the friendly bartenders.
As you can see from the two drinks I ordered, their menu theme was creating drinks after animals. Everything you could look for in a bar, worth a visit.
My Verdict
7.9 / 10Taste
8.1 / 10Atmosphere
Taste reflects what I drank. Atmosphere reflects the bar experience.
