Amaretto Sour
Milk-Washed Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon · Disaronno · Milky Oolong Tea · Korean Plum · Korean Pepper
Classic Amaretto Sour look with a Korean plum garnish.
Heck fricken’ yeah. I won’t stand for the shit talk that loving Amaretto Sours garners. The drink is objectively good, and no, I am not having that it is an old person drink. I will not let this drink be age-gatekept like they tried to do with Arnold Palmers.
If you love Amaretto Sours, this is a must-order. And if you don’t, give this one a try and I’ll wager the cost of the drink that it’ll change your mind.
The milk washing and the oolong tea gave the drink a richness and silky texture which amplified the Disaronno. The addition of bourbon to this drink did not change the balance of this classic; it simply provided a little bit more bite and a fullness which I really appreciated.
The Korean pepper, for me, is a fantastic choice to provide an ever-so-subtle spice to counteract the incredibly sweet nature of this drink. I learned about Korean plums on this trip, and man, am I a fan. An incredibly delicious fruit—I had Korean plum wine and Korean plum tea. A great flavor to add to this drink.
I’m really not sure how you could make a better Amaretto Sour. I was thoroughly impressed.
